Corona Sunrise

Early before dawn
I reach for my phone
For the daily news
Grieving all now gone

Before morning’s light
I hear a chorus
Of birds a-singing
Dispelling the night

As the sun appears
I see the iris
Spring’s testimony
Of care calming fears

Corona sunrise
I have one more day
To live out my call
In faith amidst whys

Rays reaching so far
Down to my very soul
The piercing presence
Of the Morning Star

God’s gift of today
Invites me to join
Tulips opening
To all in their way

A contagious hope
Spreads around the globe
We are not alone
O Lord help us cope
