First Rose of ‘21
Spotting spring's first rose in our garden in Washington, D.C. inspired this poem. May this encourage you today.
First Rose of ‘21
First rose of ‘21
The hope of what’s to come
A new day is blooming
Can you hear birds singing?
The long dark rainy night
Has marked our souls with fright
“How long?” is our lament
A flower soaked and bent
Yet with morning’s first light
A fresh day is in sight
Droplets O so serene
Showering red and green
With our Creator -Friend
Communing as we tend
Today’s hopeful garden
Dawning yet once again
This morning I will plant
Sunflowers to enchant
Proclaiming heavenward
“Shalom”! Only one word
First rose of ‘21
The hope of what’s to come
A new day is blooming
Can you hear birds singing?
