Sharon’s Story
I am all about growth! Whether working in my vegetable garden, boldly stepping out to learn something new or challenging people to take the next step, growing and learning is part of my DNA. Each new day is an invitation for me to grow more and more into the person God has created me to be. I love coaching because it’s an opportunity to help others discover and lean into their calling.
My own journey involved working in international development for 19 years with World Vision, where I engaged with fundraisers, donors, and program staff on five continents. It was here, and through my travels to over 40 countries, that I discovered my love for other cultures and the unique stories people carry. This is also where, at 36 years old, I met my husband and co-coach, Andrew.
Our first big adventure together was moving to Sénégal, where I learned French from scratch, gave birth overseas and continued on-line classes with Fuller Theological Seminary. In Kenya, where our family moved next, I completed a MA in Biblical Studies at Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology with a truly diverse group of students and faculty. During this time, I led discipleship classes in addition to engaging in prayer and mentoring ministries.
Settling in Washington, D.C. in 2010, I served with my church’s international outreach ministry and women’s Bible study group. As our boys became more independent, I began to think about what might be next. Leaning into my faith, a new path began to emerge…It started with a word that jumped off the page – “pastureland”. That word grew into an idea – open space to nourish and encourage others on their journey. That idea grew into concrete interaction with two women. Sharing turned into questions and observations, creating a way forward. Through this, I became aware of my unique gifting and calling as a coach to encourage and walk with others.
My next step was to complete depth coach training in Germany with a faculty and cohort of humanitarian and ministry leaders. I earned my Associate Certified Coach credentials through the International Coaching Federation and joined the ICF DC Chapter. Soon after, I learned about CliftonStrengths by Gallup. I immediately saw the connection between our God given strengths and coaching. As a result, I completed the training program and began helping others discover and embrace their strengths.
I am passionate about helping people discover what is life-giving for them! A faith-filled optimist, I love to encourage and challenge my clients on their journey.
